Pacific Salmon Foundation

     

The Pacific Salmon Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds and directs funding to grassroots, volunteer and community-driven projects focused on sustaining, regenerating, and enhancing wild Pacific salmon stocks. The Foundation also educates the public on Pacific salmon and the importance of conserving the "keystone" species (more than 130 species in the Pacific Northwest depend on the Pacific salmon for their survival).

Through evidence-based science, the Foundation promotes solutions for the challenges facing Pacific salmon and their environment. The Foundation also serves as a voice in Victoria and Ottawa for the conservation of Pacific salmon and the ecosystems that depend on them for survival.

Since 1989, the Pacific Salmon Foundation has provided volunteer community groups with $9.2 million for 1,279 salmon projects across British Columbia and the Yukon to conserve, restore and regenerate wild Pacific salmon. On average, each dollar donated to the Foundation is leveraged six times in the community; the $9.2 million that the Foundation has invested in Pacific salmon conservation has been leveraged to $64 million in funds at the local level.

All projects that are funded by the Pacific Salmon Foundation have gone through rigorous technical reviews and feasibility evaluations to ensure that they are scientifically viable.
