Date: March 03,2012

The
BC Association for Community Living’s second annual Reason to Care Art Sale will return to Heritage Hall at 3102 Main Street in Vancouver on March 3, 2012. Featuring donations of previously-owned and original art, the art sale will include a day of music, art demonstrations, and a closing live auction and evening reception.
BCACL initiated the Reason to Care Art Sale in 2011, with striking results as hundreds of pieces of donated art, from members, supporters and the community, soon filled BCACL’s office with an outstanding array of paintings, prints and posters of all styles and genres. The event brought out hundreds of people – from the community living movement and the broader community – to purchase art, enjoy the experience, and support BCACL and community living.
This year’s art sale promises to be an amazing experience. Local artist Cliff Milne will lead a live painting demonstration during the evening reception, from 6-7 pm; the resulting painting will be finished and given to the auction winner donor after the event. Vocalist Lexi Thomas will perform twice during the day-long art sale, and students from the Mozart School of Music will also bring their musical talents to the event.
The inaugural event had a real community feel, drawing amazing artists, fabulous silent auction prizes and excellent entertainment to welcome the broader community in an inclusive, caring, and creative event that celebrated all artistic visions and voices.
All proceeds from the event go to support the
BC Association for Community Living and its work to advocate for the rights, inclusion and full citizenship of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Additional art donations are still needed and wanted for the event – of both original pieces donated by artists, and pre-owned pieces. To contribute art or find out how you can be a part of the Reason to Care Art Re-Sale and Auction, please contact Melissa Bennett Knights at 604-777-9100 extension 522, or email mbennett@bcacl.org.
